I was searching for a component that allows me to make a database for newspaper articles. Finally I found the right component to use as basic: book library.
Unfortunaly the main useful function in this com, the possibility to upload pictures and ebooks (thats where i later want to upload the scans of the articles) doesn't work and i can't find out why!

Now my question: is anybody knowing another component similar to the book library that has the option to upload pictures and files that works? Or can at least somebody tell me how to get the book library to work?

here's the problem i have with book library:
My problem is that the file, uploaded through the "ebook-upload" function, isn't set to 777 even when i change Mambo-Settings to CHMOD NEW FILES TO 777.
So the file can't be opened until i chmod it through ftp.
there is also a problem with the "picture-upload". The uploaded file has no name, it's stored under ".jpg" even if the original file is "something.jpg" (and it has also chmod 600).
So when i upload a second picture it overwrites the old one because it has the same filename (".jpg")

If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please let me know!
Everything else to change the component into my newspaper-articles database is no problem (i've done it already), only this upload function doesn't work.

ok, let's change the settings :-)

I decided to use the TMEdit to upload pics, so there is no need of an upload-function.

The following component i need now:

Backend:
- Make Categories (and if possible Make Subcategories)
- Make Entries
    Fields: 3x textfield, 1 x textbox, 1 x date (to change the date mambo sets for new entries to insert older entries), 1 x dropdown (category)

Frontend:
- Show list of Categories
- If you're in a categorie: show list of entries
  with the content of the three textfields
  sort the list for any of this three fields (best: asc & desc)

That's all... anyone knowing a component that does this?

i can change it (text, html etc.). Also i can change a little of the php-code  but i can't program such a component...it's to complex...

P.S.: Garys Cookbook is very similiar, but the frontend has only lists the title...i need two more fields and sortable...
