Ok, here is a post. sorry if my english is no to good, I live in mexico. I have spend hours trying to find a solution to my problem. As far as I know (or understand) VM shoppers ar as well Joomla site users.,  the only thing I need is 1 ONE!!.. only ONE f..  additional field in the shopper registration. the field is called RFC. In mexico we have a number for taxes control. Any idea to solve this?,, ITS ONLY ONE!!..

I was thinking in using on of the 2 fields of the address as sustitue.

For any help you can provide... 1000 thanks..

d.

Here's the second one. I need a plugin to CB wich will add a tab to the user's profile with last 5 items - more specifically books, since I build a booklovers' community- in the user profile. Anyone knows something ready or I need to do it myself?
BTW, allready use on several sites the CB-Virtuemart plugin, thanks for it!!!

Virtuemart has about 5 additional Extra Fields that are hidden by default, you may search the code for that. What you need to do will be just uncomment these fields.
Let me know if you need any help!

I have searched for solution everywhere and find out that there is NO solution.
Well, perhaps just my negative thinking that both developers of CB and VM are keeping their pride and none want to bend their codes to match to other.

However, from my personal point of view, each software have its own field i.e.:
  • CB for membership management
  • VM for e-commerce or shopping cart

Since membership is CB specialty, then VM has to arrange their code to be compatible with CB.
I know that bonding the codes is not as easy as welding two pieces of metal, hence CB must make a first move and give hint to VM team on how integrate VM membership into CB.

Hopefully both developers are willing to cooperate therefore the Joomla lovers will really have a happy new year ;)

I just get an idea to solve the problem.
CB team should inform VM team on how to sync the user database i.e. giving the extracted subprogram, which does the job for certain user.
Then VM team will call that sub-program whenever they register one person.
There will be a plugin for CB, which will show a tab in the user profile, which shows VM user/buyer data i.e. address, phone, etc.

The weakness of this scheme is whenever we define that certain fields in CB must be filled, people can by-pass it by registering from VM.

Anybody can make it comes true?

I get another "revelation" after studying VM further.
It seems that VM is making their own membership management.
You can access the membership via http://www.yourwebsite.com/index.php?op ... ount.index

VM even have its own login module, just the same like CB with its cblogin.

Well, in that case, both parties (VM & CB) have to sit down on the same table with a mediator.
Anybody wants to be the mediator?

As you can see this post is more than three years old!!
..and no integration yet

So, simply I suggest you to take a look on other components, like jCommunity...

Hmmm, I have looked the component, which you mentioned.

"Integration with other extensions through API"
Is it the key to integration with VM?

Thanks for your valuable suggestion.

Hi eGulp,

jStore is not free for commercial usage.
I know that I can still use it for commercial although the author doesn't allow it, but I think that it is not a good way to appreciate the author, isn't it?

Well, I just see that CB is 1.5 native already, hence perhaps it is now possible to make the plugin since both components are 1.5 native already.

Post subject:  Re: Virtuemart & Community Builder plugin

you guys are in J1.0 forum talking abt J1.5 ?

well i have to agree this is cons for BOTH major editors pick extensions.
They both have to come to a solutions..

wel its been few years, lets hope for a good news.

this problem has setback alot of dev to switch to WP instead. they have their own WP cart now which doesnt bother with all of this sync-ing issue..

Uppss, I just realize that this thread is in 1.0
I keep on monitoring this thread because I hope that one day there is solution.

Dear moderators,
Please help to move this thread to J1.5 forum
There is no point of discussing about bridging between CB and VM in J1.0 as both extensions have stepped forward to 1.5
I even read that VM has started to stop their support to J1.0

Frankly speaking, my major websites are still in J1.0 but I am looking forward to migrate it to J1.5 especially once the CB & VM integration problem has been settled.
...I know, I know, CB & VM also has integration problem in J1.0, but I don't have the luxury of setting my websites 2 times (First, to migrate to 1.5; Second, to install the integration between CB & VM)

Hi all,

I get this one: viewtopic.php?p=1451845#p1451845
Anybody has tried it successfully?

Another solution is to use JFusion http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/bridges/authentication-bridges/3723/details combined with Magento, which is an independent shopping cart system.
So, you may bid farewell to Virtuemart :'(, although personally I still prefer to use native Joomla component for my website.
