Help.joomla.org - makes many references to a "notify" button

Post by Protonus » Fri May 09, 2008 1:54 pm

During the install guide the user is prompted to go into the announcements forum and hit the "notify" button to receive updates re: security. In searching the help.joomla.org site, I see many mentions of the "notify" button as well. I'm assuming, this notify function was from an older forum software ran here. I see no such button in the current phpBB that's ran here - unless I'm not looking in the right spot?

I do see a "subscribe" button and I'm also assuming that is what is intended. Also it should be noted that in order to subscribe, forum registration is required.

Not that either issue is a big deal, but for the absolute new user, or someone not familiar with forums, or wanting to follow the guide to a T - I think it should be changed.

It did not appear that the help.joomla.org site was a wiki per se, otherwise I would have changed it myself (I don't like to suggest work for others without offering to help). If it is something i can fix, let me know.

My first post here, thank you all for your hard work!

Look down ;) It's called 'Subscribe Topic".

Subscribe topic is different from this.. that would be for a particular topic. This is for the whole forum per the help guide. Regardless, the help guide refers to it as a "notify" button, where as it actually is "subscribe forum" - and it also requires you to register which the help guide does not mention.

You will need to register to see these subscribe links, and yes, you can also subscribe to a forum.

All the best.

Are you reading my posts?
The help file needs some corrections per my original and my second posts.

docs.joomla.org is different from help.joomla.org which is what I'm reporting a problem with... If I can edit help.joomla.org certainly let me know how and I'll do so.
