Hello All,

Question about the use of a dTree Menu in Joomla with very specific set-up. I hope someone has an answer or a suggestion.

I'm about to publish information from a manual. I want each chapter to be a separate article. In Joomla, I've set-up sections and categories and I'm now filling it by copy and pasting the texts in single articles, using cat's for easier searching. The idea is now to use dTree menu (or some other mod/com), to have a nice visual reference as a menu, looking like Windows Explorer (see: http://www.module.joomlademo.de ).

Question is, if it's possible to have a menu folder per category that can be expanded to see the articles within that category? The idea is to have book number one as a main folder, with all chapters as separate items, followed by book number two as a second folder, with all its chapters as separate items, and so forth and so on. This would allow quick navigation to the article, instead of having to click through all items in a standard Joomla way.

Difficulty seems to auto-load the articles. One now has to make a menu item for every article, calling it in a specific menu, then point dTree to that menu and then have the dTree menu load when clicking a specific main menu item.

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

That's just how it works, dtree is a menu module just like the others, just with a different output/presentation.
So you have to create all the links (parent/child relations included) in the way you describe manually.

Thanks Joe. Had hoped it would be less time consuming... Once it's set-up it does what it needs to do of course, but it's not that easy/simple to load data in a menu dynamically in such a way it picks up the parent/child relationship.

My thinking was: what if one loads data in a database, or put files in a folder/subfolder, and then a menu (mod/com) picks it up automatically, building a structure such as dTree provides. I really like the appearance of dTree: that's the only reason to put in the effort. But it's not necessary to be using it, if there's another way of doing it.

Ah well... Thanks for your reply.
