Does anybody know if Multithumb works with Joomla 1.5 and if not when this can be expected?

Cheers,
Edward

it's pity, but it doesn't.  :(
i love multithumb, but it deal with mosimage mambot. as you know, in joomla 1.5 we lost that thing.

currently, i'm trying to find a replacement plugin that will do the same lovely things in joomla 1.5..

Thanks for the info Morten.
Good to hear that he is working on it. Now I can continue creating content item with it knowing that I can migrate to 1.5 as soon as all the extensions I use are available. :)

I got an email back from Martin, the guy who wrote Multithumb. I asked him the status and possibility of a 1.5 version. this is the response I got.

"Hi,

In short: yes, but I am not sure when as I two days ago got a wonderful
little daughter.

But sometime this spring."

so lets all congratulate him on his new addition and hopefully he will find the time to work on a 1.5 port.

Ok, if a 1.5 version is not going to be ready for a while, any ideas as to where we can get something that does the same thing, even if it is not as good?

I haven't found anything for 1.5.1 that works half as well as multithumb did for 1.0.15.

I have been getting conflicting information through out the web. Some say yes, just do this and that such as A1ex037 at viewtopic.php?f=470&p=1218281. Others will say no.
I installed it to my 1.5 and it installed fine in legecy mode, however did not work, even after I followed the directions from the post above:

" just comment out few lines of code to exclude them in multithumbs.php.

//if(!in_array('mootools', $libs)){
// $header = "<script type=\"text/javascript\" src=\"$mosConfig_live_site/media/system/js/mootools.js\"></script>\n";
//} "

Does anyone know for sure if this works?

Thanks,

The Multithumb polish version for 1.5 native works like a charm, except the fact that it doesn't apply to the RSS feeds of my content (images aren't thumbnailed). Does anyone know how to fix this? Or maybe the EventName for RSS rendering?

THANK YOU! I spent hours, and hours working on this to no avail. Running Joomla 1.5.8 and just couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Downloaded your file, installed, and it was working instantly with the default settings. The ONLY change I made to them was to use Greybox.

I can't thank you enough, truly.

And a big thank you to the author of this amazing plugin!

I am testing this now in J 1.5.9.
It loads and displays thumbs without error.
However I cannot get it to Link to Article in "Handling of thumbnails in blog mode".

It does not link to anything.
I have the plugin in position 0 (first) for Content plugins.

Any ideas on what to try?

I haven't tried that Blog feature yet. Honestly, I've had some quirks and bugs come up lately since my last post. For example...

On the first site I was working on, when I tried to have MultiThumb only work on a certain Category, it started displaying the name of that Category on every single article. No idea why, didn't have time to mess with the template, HTML, or CSS to find out further. I actually just disabled MultiThumb since it was overkill for the current content (but will/would be hugely useful down the road).

The second site I tried it on was running version 1.5.3 and kept giving me Java errors. I tried several different display types, each giving an error. It wasn't even thumbnailing images. It may me because of the version difference, it may be because I was running the site in a test environment. I won't know further until next week.

I'm sorry that this, in no way, provided you a solution. However, hopefully it reaffirms that, while this is working for me in some capacities on 1.5.x, it doesn't seem to be perfect at this time.

Of course, it could be just fine, and maybe it's just me... ;)

I rolled back to the 2.0 Alpha 3 version posted by Ginsu21 and it's the only one that works without errors

Make sure the multithumb.php shows this version:
* @version $Id: multithumb.php, v 2.0 alpha 3 for Joomla 1.5 2008/8/27 15:08:21 marlar Exp $

I discovered today that Multithumb is now available for Joomla 1.5.
A pity that Joomla 1.6 is coming. Does anybody know if Multithumb will be upgraded with Joomla1.6?

I couldn't wait so long and abandoned it
Switched to the free BC ImageLink
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... mmary/5397

It does not resize images like MT does, but it's stable.

I am new to MultiThumb and can definitely confirm that bk-multithumb-j15-alpha3-fix02 works fine with J 1.5.14 - apart from one snag with the GREYBOX option which is almost certainly due to my own incompetence! Any advice with that would be much appreciated.

I got my version of MultiThumb from http://joomla.rjews.net/downloads/category/13-bk-multithumb-for-joomla-15

I like the GREYBOX option a lot because of the simple controls - back, forward, & close in case you are not familiar - and especially because they appear at the TOP of the page rather than hidden at the bottom, as is so often the case.

The particular page on which I have used the plugin is http://www.nynehead.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&Itemid=202 where the current popup option used is LIGHTBOX - which I find indistinguishable from SLIMBOX.

There are 23 images all in the same folder and consecutively numbered. The GREYBOX option worked briefly i.e. the forward and back buttons worked and the 'image' number between them displayed the correct image number rather than only showing 1/1 as it has done since the GREYBOX stopped co-operating. Just why it did that is beyond me.

Anyone got any ideas?

BK-Thumb http://joomla.rjews.net/bk-multithumb (inherited from Multithumb) is Joomla 1.5 native. According to Joomla 1.6 presentation http://downloads.joomlacode.org/frsrelease/4/1/7/41772/lifting_the_lid_on_joomla_1.6.pdf it should not be a big problem to support Joomla 1.6.

In answer to my own question, the reason the GREYBOX did not work properly was because I forgot I had added a snippet of php to the template.php disabling MOOTOOLS in order that the MultiThumb LIGHTBOX work. However, the snippet not only interfered with the GREYBOX but knackered most of the other plugins I was using!

As an aside, but still about MultiThumb, it is the ONLY plugin I have come across so far that enables text to wrap around the thumbnails - e.g. see http://www.nynehead.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=135&Itemid=242 If you just have a display of thumbnails without text this is unimportant but if, as I often do, you need a thumbnail to display within the text then MultiThumb is the one to use. How?

Ensure that the MultiThumb parameter CAPTIONS is not disabled. If need be you can override a global disabled setting in an individual article with {multithumb caption_pos=below} see above URL or {multithumb caption_pos=above} There is a great tool for generating syntactically correct overrides at http://www.kreacom.dk/mambots/multithumb/mtparams/

My lightbox opens but does not display any pics. I guess there is a mootools clash (mootools is loaded in the header). I can use thickbox but this does not give individual titles to the images.

Anyone know how to conditionally (based on article id.) prevent mootools being in the header?

What i need for multithumb to apply in module images?
I want to insert images in mod_custom, publish this module in left position, and click on images from this module, opened with multithumb effect?

There is a conflict between multithumb lightbox and mootools. To disable mootools add this between the <head> tag and <jdoc:include type="head" /> in your template.php:

Code:
<?php
$user =& JFactory::getUser();
if ($user->get('guest') == 1) {
$headerstuff = $this->getHeadData();
$headerstuff['scripts'] = array();
$this->setHeadData($headerstuff); }
?>

WARNING!!! Doing this plays hell with most other extensions. My advice is DON'T DO IT! Use SLIMBOX in stead!
Code:
