Email Cloaking on an image
Hi,
My problem is that in an static article I can't insert a button with an email address.
What I tried (using TinyMCE):
1. Insert image(small button)
2. Create link on image with the url: mailto:[email protected]
Can someone tell me where is the problem?
Thanks,
Alina

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
Same exact problem here. Adding a mailto link to an image (or image map) will actually insert the javascript into the address field in the email.

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
I found on my site that it was an issue with the sub domain (in my case www) in the configuration.php file remove the www and it will work fine. (you will break the html code editor in JCE unless you change everything else to match)
Hope this helps if not let me know.

Are you unable to access the configuration.php?

Re: Email Cloaking on an image :SOLVED
hi!
I don't know why developers assumed that there won't be such links as
Email cloaking plugin just ignores such links.
I have updated the "emailcloak.php" to take care of above mentioned scenario. Download the attached file and put it into.
"/plugins/content" folder (For Joomla 1.5)
You can get it from here if you are using Joomla 1.0

Hello, same problem here.
Wajdan723, I can't download your zip file. The message "Unable to deliver the file" appears in the forum when I try.

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
Not well documented and perhaps the easiest option is to simply place this ahead of your email address to turn off cloaking for that line.
Code: Select all
{emailcloak=off}

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
I'm wondering if this is going to be a permanent fix incorporated into the release version, or am I going to need to keep replacing the file every time I update Joomla?
I'm running 1.5.14 and the fix wasn't part of the release. At least it didn't work if your image was part of a section description. When I downloaded this fix and replaced the standard plugin it works.

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
We created a stand-alone plugin for this so no hack needed:

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
I used this plug-in to solve the problems others have mentioned in this thread and it worked great. However I have added a mouse over image, and now I am having the same issue prior to installing the plug-in. Is there a trick I am missing?
I also manually entered {emailcloak=off} however when I save the change it disappears when I go back in to look for it.
Thank you

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
UPDATE:
I uploaded another image w/o a mouseover and tried to link it to an email, and it no longer worked either. I removed the plug-in, re-installed it, and the image w/o the mouseover worked fine. However now when I try to link the email to the mouseover images they dissappear all together on the webpage. They do however remain present on the article manager. Hmmmmm... very strange

Re: Email Cloaking on an image
If you have the most recent Joomla, you should not need the plugin any longer.

in version 1.5.15, they updated this feature. I recommend than u install the plugin, and then upgrade joomla.

I did some research in regard to updating my version and it seems as if it's over my head. Any other idea's how to get mouse over images to link to an email address?

I'm also facing this issue with Joomla Version 1.5.15.
It was updated but it's not working when you add a subject line like that:
