Hi,
I am running IE7 (latest version) and have just created a site that is showing the following error:
(I am assuming it has something to do with javascript)

IE7 is showing "Done, but with errors on page."
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: Syntax error
Code: 0
URL: http://www.masonsfeatures.com/

I have tried several things including:
- Playing with the doctype and html declaration (including removing it)
- Removing all other javascript to confirm Simple Image Gallery is the issue (it is)
- Checked the js code with my limited knowledge
- I have even resorted to using jslint to try and find and remove syntax errors.

I know others are experiencing this issue as it is commented on by someone on the extension's comments in the Joomla extensions section.

Any help from some brainy folks would be much appreciated. I have gone as far as I can.

Thanks!

Still no luck in finding a solution - if I find one (and I'll keep trying) I'll post it here but any help from Joomla community would be gratefully received!

Thanks all

I have just solved similar problem on my Versatility template with SIMPLE IMAGE GALLERY.

The solution was REMOVING the Styleswitcher and selecting WIDE as default width. The fluid was causing the problems for me so hope this helps you in some way.

Suggested step, remove/disable styleswitcher and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the tip but it didn't work. I have even tried removing all other js to ensure it isn't a conflct.

jslint (http://www.jslint.com/) shows plenty of syntax errors although I can't seem to get rid of all the errors wthout breaking the script (my js knowledge is very limited).

I have asked microsoft if this might be an IE7 quirk but no reply as yet. I am pretty sure this must be down to the syntax of the js.

Wow - thanks for the quick reply!

It seems his site hasn't got the same error (it does have a different error though) - perhaps he has fixed the error I am getting. I will get in touch and if he has a solution I'll post it here.

It helps when we online.

Just wish there was more help for solutions. There seems to be a lot of extremely good templates and add on's out there but they constantly conflicting after recent IE7 release and also IE6 updates. We need a solution to all these problems and unfortunately I dont have the knowledge yet to solve this evolution of issues... ha ha... let me know if you do solve it.

Thanks.

No reply or solution as yet - although quite a few people have taken a look at this post now so I'm hoping someone with better js skills than me will take a look at the Simple Image Gallery js and correct the syntax errors.

It looks like I'm not going to get a reply from either Microsoft (no suprise there then!) or the guy from selectiecentrum.nl on whether he managed to fix the issue.

Fotis sent me an email saying he's been too busy to look at the problem (he's not dodging the issue, he gave a legitimate reason for not being able to dedicate time to finding a solution) so that leaves me in the hands of the community  :).

It's such a fantastic extension so I really hope someone can help.

Thanks!

Did this ever get fixed?

I have the same problem (Error on page) with SIG although the detail of the error is different:

Line: 604
Char: 27
Error: Object doesn't support this action
Code: 0
URL: http://www.uk2learn.com/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=75

Thanks

Was the solution to this found? I notice that your page is looking good with no errors on it.

On a fresh Fantastico install of Joomla (1.5.13) and install of the Simple Image Gallery Plugin (plugin_jw_sig-v1.2.1r2_j1.5.zip) I'm getting the same error in IE7.

My attempt to debug through Visual Studio 2008 stopped at:

Code:
this.detachEvent(
'on'
+action,this[action+fn]);

Line 121 or eval code, then continued to:

Code:
else if(this.$events[type]){this.$events[type].keys.each(function(fn){this.removeEvent(type,fn);},this);this.$events[type]=null;}

Line 49 of mootools.js, highlighting specifically:

Code:
this.removeEvent(type,fn)

Page load gets Line: 1, Error: Syntax Error.

Page leave gets Line: 49, Error: Type mismatch. then Line 49, Error: Object doesn't support this property or method.

No solution found yet for me. I hope this helps someone find a solution.
