Hey guys,
Is there anyway I can install rhuk_milkyway on the Joomla 1.0.1.1 system? I'm kind of new and I don't know how to do this.
Thanks!

Not unless you completely re-code the Joomla 1.5 specific stuff in the milkyway template.

Just a small note on the above attached version - I have done some minor modifications to allow for variable width of content area by adding an IF ELSE statement which allows changes to the div id of content area, then added corresponding additions to template css.
Result can be seen in web link to the left

Great stuff Chinaman! Thanks for the conversion.
However, looking at your site I noticed a glitch with the search box (I'm using FF 2.0). Check the screenshot below...

$10 sounds a bargin based on the amount of time i have spent on this issue already!
I would be even better if you would share the fix if you get it done, i would offer to go halfers but dont know how this would be feasible.
Let me know how you get on.
Thanks in advance
Justin

Only one problem left, have you noticed it
In the pathway when it displays: Home >> next item >> next item
The >> are streched vertically, see my site in IE http://www.bethanybaptist.co.uk/index.php and then click on weekly program, you will see what i mean in the pathway.
Have you got this problem as well?

Re: rhuk_milkyway (Joomla 1.5) Template on Joomla 1.0.1.1
Hi Justin, I didn't notice that. I see it is also a problem with the e-mail icon.
i don't have time to look at it right now but you can easily fix this one yourself. The problem is that IE6 does not know how to read .png files properly. In this case, it's not getting the file dimensions and so fills the available space with it.
For the pathway, one possible fix is to add a selctor for:
span.pathway img {width: 15px; height: 9px;}
There may be a selector for that somewhere in the css file already, if so, just add the witdth and height attributes. Something similar can be done for the e-mail icon as well.

no laughing. It's not you. I expected that to work but didn't test it. Apparently the png reading abilities of IE6 is even worse than I thought. i don't think I have come across line-height affecting it before. In any case:
Remove the selector I suggested before, it doesn't work for height even with display: block added.
Instead (and this is ugly) change this:
span.pathway {
display: block;
margin: 0 20px;
height: 16px;
line-height: 16px;
overflow: hidden;
}
to this:
span.pathway {
display: block;
margin: 0 20px;
height: 16px;
line-height: 16px !mportant;
line-height: 9px;
overflow: hidden;
}
Or maybe just remove the line-height altogether. I didn't test that.

My pleasure. It's always great to see someone who is figuring out how things work instead of just asking for the answer to every detail even after they have all the information.

Hi,
This might be a little off topic but...
Is it possible to replicate the grey line that divides the right column from the centre, on the left, so there would be the grey line on both sides of the centre column? My PHP and CSS aren't too great.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't have a copy of the template so I'm looking at modified templates, therefore yours may be different. However, this will probably work:
In template_css.css change this:
#maincolumn {
margin-left: 20%;
float: none;
padding-left: 15px;
width: auto;
}
to this:
#maincolumn {
margin-left: 22%;
float: none;
padding-left: 15px;
width: auto;
border-left: 1px solid #ccc;
}
The changes are margin-left changed from 20 to 22%, and a border-left is added.

Thanks for your reply, the code worked great
Is it possible to remove the blue borders to modules in the left hand column too? I am trying to make it match it to the right.
Thanks again.

Yes, In your templates index.php file, find the following (again, I don't have that template available so I can't be sure this is exactly what is in it, but it is very likely that this is how it is set up):
mosLoadModules('left', -3 )
chage it to:
mosLoadModules('left', -2 )
Just changing the -3 to -2 should do the trick.

Thanks for that answer ... I will need to look up in the documentation the difference between -2 and -3.jxl wrote: Yes, In your templates index.php file, find the following (again, I don't have that template available so I can't be sure this is exactly what is in it, but it is very likely that this is how it is set up):

I was going to ask how to add the blue borders to the right hand side as well - but the above answer gave it away

Re: rhuk_milkyway (Joomla 1.5) Template on Joomla 1.0.1.1
To Whom It May Concern;
I am a newbie as well...please forgive me. After much research, I have concluded that content management systems and Joomla is the way to go. I am a college student and am not very familiar with web-development. So, I thought Joomla would be fairly simple to use. I am designing a wesite for one of the departments of the University that I go to. Below is my dilemma:
I started by browsing for templates that I thought would work for the department. After coming up with a few perfect ones, I finally chose one that was by far the best. Turned out that the template was for Joomla 1.5, so I ended up installing that version of Joomla on my site. Well, after I started to customize and design the site, I came to realize that there are barely any modules/components for Joomla 1.5. This poses a real problem as I have several modules and components that I would like to install on the site, but am not able to because the template I am using is Joomla 1.5 compatible only. I hate to give up the template because it is literally perfect and I have done so much work already. So...
My question is, would it be possible for someone to help me convert this template from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.0.13? ...or direct me in the right direction where I can find help on this matter? I would be more than happy to credit you on the site. Please note that this website will be for a University and will be for non-profit purposes only. The department does not have the money to hire a professional web developer to come in and design a site, so I thought I would surprise the department and come up with one for free. If someone could please help me, that would be great! Thank you so much!
I have included the links of the websites below:
The current University department website: http://dkal.iweb.bsu.edu/band/
The Joomla 1.5 site that I would like to convert to Joomla 1.0.13: http://BSUband.elementfx.com/
I have also provided the link to the zipped 1.5 template that I would like help with converting to 1.0.13. --> http://BSUband.elementfx.com/media/siteground.zip
Again, thank you to whoever is gracious enough to help. Bless you.

Re: rhuk_milkyway (Joomla 1.5) Template on Joomla 1.0.1.1
Sorry I can't afford the time it would take to convert a template for you, and I'm not sure the template developer would appreciate my making it publicly available as 1.0 template anyway. However, perhaps I can help in some other way?
My first reaction is, do you really need more extensions? 1.5 is a pretty good CMS as it is, and if you are volunteering to make a site for your school, perhaps it doesn't need a whole lot more bells and whistles.
What extensions are you looking for and how will it help the functionality of your site? Can you get something similar out of the basic installation?
