Hi guys

I know Joomla pretty well now but other programming i do not know a thing.

I am building a site for a friend who loves the site I am building for them but they would like a page stuck at the front with a big logo and ENTER.

How do i do this?
I have golive, dreamweaver but have never used. How can i add this page once i have built it to the front of a joomla site or
Is there something in joomla that i can use. Could i just turn all modules off or something?

regards Pete

Hi,

If you perform a search on keywords "splash page" you find several solutions. One of them: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f ... h#p1204210

I have done this before.

I created a sub directory and installed Joomla in there. I then went back to the root directory and made an index.html page there with the 'Enter Here' splash page on it.

When clicked, the user gets directed into the sub-directory where the joomla Index page kicks in.

That actually just might do the trick for me... however, I would like to know if you know, if this would effect SEO in a negative way?

Thanks in advance

HI I know this is kind of old but thought i would answer

Basically the way it has been explained is for you to create a subdomain or a sub-directory in your route folder so that your joomla site will work with a different extension -

SO for example your landing page will be example.com and your jomla site will be example.com/SITE

The capital letters is the name of the directory in which you will install joomla - you choose what you like. So for a store it could be installed into shop or something similar.

Regarding the SEO well your joomla site will not be affected. Your landing page however you will need to consider the fact that search engine robots can not view images and only read the alt text.

having some good content will always be good for seo however a page which is based around images and minimum text will not rank so well. If you have quality backlinks and optimised titles - meta descriptions then you could still rank well -

A landing page which you are describing can be a good idea however when looking from a customer point of view it doesnt really benefit them to end up on a page only to click again to actually access the site.

If you will be using your landing page and optimising it so that users enter your site through it then I would also recommend you keep working on the SEO for your joomla site also - as it may well be much easier to rank your joomla site due to the contents which will go in your favour

thanks

The site I made, ended up looking like this: http://lonefrank.dk
I might have been able to do it in another way, but I actually quite ok with the result :)
