Hi,

I wonder why do you want to do so? Anyway, you can actually duplicate the template by changing it's name in template XML file.

that's because it tries to install itself in the same directory.

You will need to change the directory name, all references to that directory in the index.php file,
and change the name in templateDetails.xml (so you can seen what template you are selecting).

Well, the correct template will never have any directoriy name embeded in index.php. There are function "$mainframe->getTemplate()" for this. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. That's how I create my own templates too (with relative paths, with global $cur_template;), but a lot of templates have their directory name hardcoded in the code...  :o

all you have to do is edit the templatedetails.xml file and change the template name. then rezip the template and save the zip with a new name

You need to pack it to zip, choose "pack to archive" and tick "zip".
