This one is also mostly great.

Except:

If I write a GNU GPL bridge to a non-GNU GPL application, will that meet the Joomla! License requirements?

This will depend on how it is written. You will probably need to consult a lawyer with experience in this area to help you to make this determination.

FSF seems to think that this is a blanket no according to the SMF emails.  Perhaps a note that it is at least unlikely should be included here.

Danayel,

Actually the FSF has not said that. In fact that have even in their FAQs stated how GPL software and non-GPL compatible software can be bridged.

Modfied to add:

In fact, in those SMF emails they state this also.

The SMF emails were about a vague hypothetical case. We don't know what they would say about the specific code in question or about other approaches that might be taken.
