Hi,

Just to be clear if we as developers don't use any Joomla Framework/Functions/Work in our modules, we can choose other licensing other than GPL correct?

Your above suggestion (as a private person of course) implies that this very piece of code would not violate GPL the way you decided to interpret it. Is that right?

No, you did not ask me, you asked andradesilva, anyway it seemed to me that since you weren't provided with any example code, you suggested a code example that does not violate GPL as you understand it.

Is it right then, that you didn't make any assertion at all in your post?

with due respect, I did not do anything of the above. Neither I have put words in peoples mouths nor I am making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I was just asking a simple question. I simply wanted (and still want) to know if the example mcsmom provided was compliant with GPL as she understands it (simply because she came up with the example) and further, if this was not her suggestion, if then she didn't make a statement at all. Not more and not less.

You may pardon me if my question was phrased awkwardly, English is not my mothertongue.

Anyway, no need to get disrespectful.

As you can see we use 0 code from Joomla!, Joomla! Framework, etc... we take it very serious with that. So our license doesn't need to be GPL correct (That's the way I see it at least)

If an extension/application is free standing, can I make a URL link to it without it being license under GNU GPL?

Yes. In this case it is not an extension, but is a free standing application.

How can I show that an application is freestanding?

By demonstrating that it is fully operational outside of Joomla!.
