Hi All,
If there is someone who could give me a bit of info, I sure would appreciate it.

I've been trying to set up a blog on Geo & Chevy Trackers and Suzuki Sidekicks. With all the publicity out there on the web, etc. I started out with Wordpress and managed to get set up. At first glance, it seems fairly intuitive, but I've now reached a point where I'm wondering if that was the right decision.

Before going further into the blog set up, I decided to check out Joomla, so have been looking around the site and forums. I gotta say that all the info & technical language has got my head spinning to the point where I seem to be going round in circles, and finding things intimidating.

Questions that come to mind are
- Is it possible for someone who has limited techie knowledge to get started using Joomla within a reasonable time frame?
- What advantages are there to using Joomla?
On a more specific note, I would like to have a photo gallery where registered users can upload photos with captions or comments. Is it possible to do this within Joomla?

Any help would be really appreciated 'cause I'm kinda overwhelmed right now. :-[

Joomla! is a CMS.

Yes, if you can setup w@rdpress, Joomla! would be no problem.

Joomla! adds more functionality, flexible in nature providing a larger response for its audience.

Simply search thru the extensions to see what is available compared to the former.

Good luck!

I am also new - I was asked to build a site, So went to chapters and picked up Barrie North's book - built the site based on that. I did this in 4 weeks. The last thing I did today was add JomSocial - after try Community Builder. Now my site is ready to go.

As Bjorg states - more functionality, very flexible (more so if you can code) and has so many additions that are free and fully function.

Out of the box - installing Joomla - your site is ready to go, other then changing the content.

Thanks to both for taking the time to reply.

1. It's encouraging to see that the site build went well.

2. I guess as a first step, I'll go check out the extensions. Maybe I'm asking for too much.

Have a great day!
