Hi There,

I'm fairly new to joomla, but believe I'm getting to grips now with the basics. Well, i'll let you be the judge of that after you read my question!

I'm having an issue with Section List Layout. I have created a section called Projects, and three Category's in that section called, Pending, In-Progess and Complete.

I have 9 articles in the section Projects, 3 in each Category.

I created a new menu item called Working on in Section List Layout for the Section Projects. What I was expecting and hoping if I understand correctly, was that when a visitor to my web page would click on the menu item Working On, they would be taken to a page with a list of my categories in the section Projects. This worked fine. Then when they clicked on the individual Category they would be taken to either a list of the articles in that cetgory or a page displaying all the articles in that category.

This part didn't work as expected. Instead what you get is this:
Attachment:
example.JPG

Basically not the articles or a list of them, just a search box and a link to write a new article???

This is very frustrating, I thought I'd started to understand things, and then this issue gets thrown up. I guess i'm doing something wrong?

Please help,

Regards, Tom

Hello,

Perhaps, this example is why I tend to lean to use Blog layout views with settings for leading articles and lists (found in the menu item property params)...I think it has better control, and a more pleasing user experience....allowing to present some articles at the tops of the list navigations for the categories.

Regards,
Doc

Thank you for replying, and I have tried using Blog List Layout but surely I shouldn't have to? Am I doing something wrong? Or is this simply not what Section List Layout does?

My question is still unanswered so if anyone can help?

Hello,

It appears your list view is working properly, perhaps a css issue, hard to tell without a link to preview. Your screenshot shows 2 list items and "next" nav. It appears to be working as should with default list view set to 2 items with nav.

Doc

Hi,

I would be very grateful if you could take a look. Here is a link to my website thomasbunton.co.uk and the menu item I am having problems with is Working On.

Site is very much work in progress! Can you let me know if you're going to look as I don't want to keep the site online.

Cheers,

Tom

Hello,

I see it. Thanks. I don't know what is causing this issue. Does it exist when you try on a default Joomla! template as well? (just as a test)

Regards,
Doc

I wish I could stay and try this now but I have to go and pick my girlfriend up. Thanks so much for having a look.

I'm going to test on a default template soon as I get back in.

Cheers,

Tom

Just tried this with a default joomla template and it's still the same. Any ideas anyone. Is what I am trying to achieve correct with the section list layout?

Hello,

I just tested this on 3 sites with lots of sections, cats, and articles...works fine on all, with fancy or without fancy templates. Probably not what you want to hear. I would suggest going through the menu item for the section layout view's parameters and making sure you have the titles clickable, not hidden, and double check that you haven't overridden the same with the article manager's global parameter settings so that the default "global settings" are as you wish them to be.

Regards,
Doc
