Accordion menu disappeared

Hi

For some time my accordion menu disappeared. I have an older Joomla version 1.5. I still can find all the menu items in the menu manager but it doesn't display. I just wonder if this is a template problem. It seems to disappear one day without any interaction on my part. Any help would be much appreciated. Yes, I know I should upgrade but this seems a nightmare also ...

Have you checked if your web host have upgraded the php version on the server?

What version of 1.5 are you running? (The latest is 1.5.26).

I'm running 1.5.6 as far as I know. It says so in the backend after logged in, top right hand side.

I never thought of that there might have been a upgrade on my server side. It would make sense since the menus disappeared all of a sudden.

However, not only is the accordion effect gone but the entire menu disappeared. Moreover, even a side menu disappeared, which as far as I know was just a norm HTML menu.

That version will not work on any php version above 5.2.x

Upgrade to 1.5.26 and your menus will be back.

I checked with my web host and they haven't updated the PHP which always has been 5.3. That should be compatible?

No, it's only compatible with 1.5.15 and above.

Yes you are spot on! They have upgraded their PHP accross their server from 5.2 to 5.3 around the time when my problems started. Thank you so much for pinpointing this.

What version would you suggest we should upgrade Joomla to? I have been told it is not possible to upgrade a 1.5.6 installation to 3.5

In which directory on my server do I upload the unzipped files? Is it done in Joomla or I can do with FTP or Dreamweaver?

Every file goes into the same folder as it's located in the zip.

DONE! Thank you a million times! The accordion menu is back along with a side menu that was missing. Everything else seems to be as it should be.

Now I am on 1.5.26. How to go from here to Joomla 3?
