Adding new Article breaks page layout

I've got a site which shows the articles of a category in blog format (Category/ Blog). See screenshot 1.

When I add a new article the layout of the page breaks. See before

As far as I know the width of an article is formatted with .contentpaneopen. This has the value width: auto; I tested it with width: 100%; and it's also breaking the page.

When I remove the article the page is displayed as expected.

I am using Joomla 1.5.2.

Is the template you are using a 1.5 native template?
It really looks like a CSS problem.

Yes. It's a native template but the issue also occurs with the standard template rhuk_milkyway.

In your case the problem is that the display is too wide.
For what you are doing use a single column to display rather than two columns. You adjust this in the parameters for the menu link to the front page. (go to menu manager and open it.).

That solved my problem! I really had no idea that there was a column option in there, so I figured that it was a template problem. I appreciate your help very much.

What are the menu settings on the link to that blog?
What is the html that is being generated in the two different pages?

No one can really help you just based on pictures, though they are helpful.

I played around with the articles and the number of leading articles in the menu setting. What I found out was that depending on the total number of articles and the setting in the menu setting the error occurs or does not. Before the error occured for the first time I had 15 articles and in the menu setting 5 was set for leading articles. When the 16th article was published the error occured. I Increased the number of leading articles to 6 and the error didn't occur. I published another article and the error again occured. I again increased the number of leading articles and the error was gone.

So when I have 16 articles and the number of leading articles is less than or equal to 5 the error occurs. When I have 17 articles and the number of leading articles is less than or equal to 6 the error occurs.

Maybe this helps you to maybe reproduce or investigate the error.
