does 1.5 have a blog for users?

Post by crazydiver » Mon Apr 14, 2008 4:46 pm

Hello,

Does 1.5 have a core component in which registered users can use to blog... something like myblog or the old mamblog. Or is there a free one out there?

If you go to Extensions, it lists 28 plog extensions. There is an Extensions forum where you can search or ask what people recommend. Hope this helps. Mark

thanks for the responses guys! Joomla is cool because it can do almost anything. The only thing that gets me is that there are so many similar components... which is good but its hard to tell which one is the best out there without trial and error.

Any recommendations? myblog???

Yes, I would like to know if people who have tried various things have the pros and cons. It seemed to me that just using sections and categories with JoomlaComment would work, but are there limitations that you have that you wouldn't if you used something like JooBlog or MyBlog? I'd also like to be able to import Wordpress posts and comments. I've read some instructions available, but don't know how different they'd be when using Joomla 1.5.

Mark, I do not see where there is a discussion board in the extension forum. Can you be more specific where that might be found?

Problem with MyBlog is that it's pricey at $45 and then to get comments to pay another $30. I'm doing a website for an organization and after touting how the software was free, I can't hit them with $75 for the blog portion.

75 bucks ain't worth it. I'm pretty sure that there is a free component out there! :)
