Hello all,

I'm trying to get a SimpleViewer http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/gallery to run in an article and I'm having very little success. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice as to how to make this neat little gallery work.

*** Please do not suggest using a wrapper. I don't need the gallery as a menu item, but placed in an article ***

Here's what I know...

SimpleViewer is a Flash movie (viewer.swf) that displays photo galleries from a folder of JPGs (photos) and a folder of thumbnails (thumbs). It looks to an XML file for a listing of photos to make the galleries from, as well as some other parameters.

If I embed the viewer.swf into Dreamweaver, then copy/paste that code into an article on Joomla (TinyMCE is off), I get a blank space on the page, the size of the swf and the title shows up when I leave my cursor over it for a few seconds, but nothing is visable. It's as if the Flash movie is there, but it's not...

If I use the "denVideo" plugin http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,4053/Itemid,35/, I get the SimpleViewer showing up, but it has an error that says "gallery not found".

All of the files (swf, xml, etc) are in the same directory with the subdirectories "photos" and "thumbs".

With as popular as SimpleViewer and Joomla are, I have to believe that someone else has had this problem and may have a solution. I'm darn close to making either one of these options work... Any insight is appreciated!! TIA!

Hi. Have you tried creating a Custom HTML module that incorporates the SimpleViewer? That should work and, if so, then you can put this module (or any module) inside any article using the {loadposition xxx} trick in the article. Hope this helps. Mark

Yea, I tried that Dexter, but no luck. I even downloaded a plugin that allows you to stick HTML and JS in any module position called specialHTML which works really well, but not for this.

I've tried every possible solution and nothing works. I think it's safe to say that for some reason, it won't work unless a plugin is made specifically for this issue.

In the meantime, I've abandoned SimpleViewer and switched to SlideShowPro, which seems to be a much better viewer anyway, but also more complicated.
