Can I use this on Apple? no server yet?

Post by goldy419 » Mon Jul 07, 2008 3:23 pm

I have a few questions before I sign up.

Can I work with this on my Apple OS or do I need to switch to Windows on my Mac?

I don't have a server yet, but wanted to start working on my site on my computer...can I download it there and work on it until I get a server? I do have a domain already.

If I use my Apple OS, will I need Microsoft office for apple installed to use this?

Thanks
Kyle

What apple OS are you using? and how do you not have an apache server on your machine? I don't see why you would need Microsoft office to use anything in Joomla! I'm not even sure what would give you that impression. I have been using Joomla for the last few months on Mac OS 10 and it is fine, if you have any other questions let me know.

I have 10.5 OS and when I said that i don't have a server, i meant that i don't have anyone hosting my domain.
Thanks for the reply

I hope I'm understanding your question correctly.

If you're asking about using (installing) Joomla on your Mac, yes you can.

Nowadays Macs come with Apache and MySQL preinstalled, and with a little bit of googling, you should have Joomla installed in no time.

Alternatively, you can use something like MAMP, which provides an environment in which you can install and set up Joomla.

Hope this helps.
