change access level on multiple articles?

Post by jt_04 » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:39 am

hi, i'm new to joomla and so far loving it. I'd like to restrict my whole site so no one can read any articles without logging in. unfortunately, i've already created quite a bit of content (> 125 articles) with a "public" access level.

What is the best way to change the access level on all my articles at once?

or is there a better way to secure the site so no one can read anything without logging in?

thanks!!

jt

Changeing the articles to "Registered" is the correct way to restrict access, sorry, the Joomla Interface does not provide a convenient way to change the articles all at once.

If you have access to something like phpMyAdmin, you could change them all at once.
Don't HACK the Joomla! core, Instead "Extend" and/or "Override."

thank you for the quick information! it looks like I will be doing some repetitive clicking. I've fooled around with phpmyadmin but since I'm not an expert, I'm too afraid of corrupting my database.

as a follow up question, is there a way to set the default access level to "registered", so that new articles will automatically have that access level?

thanks again.

Not without hacking, I'm afraid.

This is an older post. In Joomla 2.5 > article manager > bottom of page > batch processing. Just select your articles first then process. Quick 'n easy. ;)

It's a Joomla 1.5 thread... and the newer posts to older threads don't really help anyone unless they specifically refer to 1.5
