Joomla Banner Image not displaying in IE6?

I have developed a Joomla site for a client of mine, but the banner image on the home page won't display in IE6. Instead I get a giant white box with a little red x at the top. It displays fine in later versions of IE and all other browsers.

This is a problem because a lot of the company's target audience can't upgrade the browser, since later versions of IE are apparently not compatible with Dot Net (go figure. Way to go, Microsoft!).

The banner image is a jpg. Any idea why it would not display in IE6? What can I do to fix this?
