Link to external link from Main Menu

Hi,

I am trying to have one of my links on the main menu point to an external link (a separate blog of mine). However, when I select "External Link" as the type and enter the url of the page I want to link to, I get this error:

Not Found
The requested URL /joomla/my5or5.[spam].com was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong and what I can do to fix this?

If you make your menu item type "External link" are you sure you're typing in the correct URL? (i.e. http://www.domain.com)
