turned off user registration and all links are not working?
this is not a big deal since i did this on a subdomain testing joomla.
however i turned off user registration in the global config set up.
I also turned off the global config user email.
now the site cannot access any article from any menu, the only menu item working is "home"
is that "normal?" does turning off user registration and turning it back on break the menu system"?
prior to that the menu's were working, and the articles were pulling up..
this is the screen that occurs:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
I do not have access to the log it refers to its on a shared hosting server.

This is not normal, so something else is happening here.is that "normal?" does turning off user registration and turning it back on break the menu system"?
Try turning off your "SEO" settings (Site -> Global Configuration -> SEO Settings) and see if that makes a difference.
Let us know how that goes.

Jmeuhleisen, do you mind me asking a non joomla question" it has to do with subdomains. how to deny direct access to them. if I can solve that, I am on my way to building a kick butt Joomla site. and I can pm if this is not the place if you don't mind.. and NO is always an answer I accept.

I assume that you are referring to your other thread here: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=428&t=548340
I've been following that discussion throughout the day.
Dave (dhuelsmann) really knows his stuff, and he is giving you the best advice. Really.
Let me post my reply over there, just to maintain the integrity of the discussion threads.
