"Read more" doesn't work
Hello everybody,
I'm the secretary of a student association and my predecessor has created a website with the help of this program. The current version is 1.5.22.
Since I have not that much experience working with this (yes I can do the basic stuff) and my predecessor also not knowing the answer to my problem I'm asking you guys.
Everytime you want to edit an article there's below this "Read more" button. Whenj clicking that there should be some red line in the article from which you'll have to click 'read more' to read it further. This way you don't have to place whole articles on your front page.
This always worked, but now (for no reason it seems) it stopped working. Whenever I put that 'read more' line in an article it doesn't work anymore. This way I get these whole pages full of text which ruins the lay out.
I'd be very grateful if you could help me out!
is there any information that you require?
Greetings,
Niels

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
Be informed that the ReadMore option works only in Blog Layouts. Are you using a Blog layout (FrontPage, Section, or Catrgory) or an Article layout?

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
You could try that. As I mentioned in my previous post, the ReadMore will not work in the Article Layout.

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
Oke I have this:
Menu item type:
Category Blog Layout
This layout displays an Article Category in Blog format.
When I create an article in article manager and assign it to this it won't work.

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
What is your site's URL?
(a) Is the article assigned to the category which is used in the Blog Layout?
(b) Is the Category selected for display in the Blog Layout?

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
Sorry for not responding. Something happened.
Anyways to answer your questions:
What is your site's URL?
http://www.sibleiden.nl/dutch/index.php
You can see it on the front page were there are some articles who have the 'read more' button and an article who doesn't and just goes on and on.
(a) Is the article assigned to the category which is used in the Blog Layout?
Yes the Article is assigned to the category.
(b) Is the Category selected for display in the Blog Layout?
Yes it says yes to published.
Just to say I literally copied everything from an article that worked to a new article. Did everything the same and it still did not work. Perhaps it's somekind of bug?

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
Reviewed the site and I could see the articles (128-12-oktober-slowakije-natie-zonder-elite and 127-5-oktober-wisselings-alv) in full when I click on the Read More... (Lees meer...) link.
I am using FireFox 3.6.27 to review the site.

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
That's correct, but it's about those other two articles.
You see in the middle of these articles (23 november: Bureaucratie in India and 26 oktober: Filmavond "Blood Diamond") a line. This is what I get when I press the read more button when I write an article.
So pressing this button doesn't work.

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
You could try the following:
First, open the article for edit and go into the HTML mode, remove the text string <hr id="system-readmore">, and save the article. Check what happens.
Position the cursor where you want the ReadMore to be placed and press the button ReadMore. If the pressing of the button does not work, you could copy the text <hr id="system-readmore"> from the article where things are working and paste the code in the article.

Re: "Read more" doesn't work
Oke I tried the first thing (to remove the: <HR id=system-readmore>)
Then I just got the article as a complete text without a line running through it.
Like this:
I also tried the second one and that also did not work.
