Upgrade to 1.5.17 Fatal error: Class 'JModelList' not found

Post by japple » Thu May 27, 2010 3:46 pm

I updated my testing site from some old version (I didn't pay attention to the previous version) by uploading the full package and extracting on the site. Done this previously with no problems.

Everything seems OK except when I click on USER MANAGER in CONTROL MANAGER and I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'JModelList' not found in /home/nelac/public_html/administrator/components/com_users/models/users.php on line 19

All other functions in the CONTROL PANEL work fine.

I have downloaded and uploaded and extracted multiple times.

Would appreciate any insight.

John

No need to respond. I think I know the answer, but I have to try the solution later.

Actually, I have the same problem. I have 1.5.22 and I get the "Fatal error: Class 'JModelList' not found" error as well on the plugin section. Everything else works fine. So what did you find?

As I recall the installation just started working. I didn't do anything.

I also have just received the "Fatal error: Class 'JModelList' not found in <file structure> on line 19" when I try to get to Plugins or User Management. Please let me know of any fixes, before I back track and restore an older version. Thank you.

I just did it the easy way and deleted the crappy components and then removed the rest of the garbage that was installed with it like some php files in the ftp server.

SOLUTION:
Download the complete version of Joomla 1.5.24
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... ge_id=6135

Extract the folder administrator/components/com_users to a temp folder
Rename the folder to com_users-new
Upload the folder via ftp to administrator/components/
Rename the existing com_users to com_user-old
Rename com_users-new to com_users

*All the renaming of folders with new/old is to prevent any errors while you are uploading the folder. If you don't care about interrupting your site, simply delete com_users and upload the new com_users folder.

rholzer, I tried your fix... still broken...

I am on Joomla 1.5.25...
* I have a com_user and com_users file in my components folder on my live site.
* I renamed both to _old.
* I downloaded full 1.5.25 package into temp folder and upload com_user to live site
* No luck.. still same issue. Complaining about my com_users file (which does not seem to exist in 1.5.25 full package) ?
