localhost/joolma/installation/index.php

Hi, a quick question.
I'm installing Joolma on UBUNTU 11. Got to 'Perform Joomla Installation' after installing Mysql, apache2 (on this page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Joomla)
Thing is, when I enter 'localhost/joomla/installation/index.php' into the url box. All I get is the index.php file downloading to my system with

Not Found

The requested URL /joomla/installation.index.php was not found on this server.

Apache/2.2.17 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80

So, any ideas on where I have screwed up?

(a) You have mentioned about Apache and MySQL. What about PHP? Is PHP is available in integrated with Apache? As per the documentation, this done if LAMP stack is installed.

(b) Also, all you have to type is localhost/joomla

As far as I know PHP is installed. How would I confirm?
Typing localhost/joomla gives the same results as mentioned above.
However, typing just localhost I get

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

It's the fact that when typing in ' localhost/joomla' all I get is index.php downloading in Chrome or, Firefox wants to save it.

Test PHP as per the documentation http://php.net/manual/en/tutorial.firstpage.php.
