hi!

these pages are getting more and more common, where you have single page layout and a menu on top of the page leading to different sections of the page. I hope you know where Im going with that.

I've already done a few "standard" joomla 1.5 pages but I wanted to try this out. just to get me started, does anyone know how to make the menu link to different sections on the same page?

Some of these have very smooth transitions where you kind of float between sections when clicking the menu...

Thanks for your help!

These kinds of pages use a html feature know as "anchors." These allow you to name a location in an article.

The ability to insert "anchors" in an article is not enabled by default if you are using the default Joomla editor Tiny MCE. To turn on this (and many other editor features), go to Extensions -> Plug-in Manager -> Editor - Tiny MCE -> Functionality -> Extended.

If you are using JCE for your editor, it is enabled by default.

So, edit your article. Find the place where you want to place an "anchor" and put your cursor at the beginning of the line.

Next, click the "anchor" icon on your editor toolbar.

If you are using TinyMCE, it look like this:

If you are using JCE, it looks like this.

Give it a name that makes sense and that you will remember (no spaces).

Then, for the menu, you use the type "external url" and you put #location-name as the link.

So, for example, let's say you have a location in the article that you have named "author"

You would put #author as the url link in the menu manager.

Let us know how that goes.

I should have mentioned that on the fcjudd site, there is a lot more going on than just anchors, but if you look at the url bar when one of the links is clicked, you can clearly see the #anchorname there.

Thank you very much! Very helpful and clear! I haven't started yet but I'll definitely come back and let you know how it's working out for me.

Very nicely done.

The photos in the slide show make me want to visit Iceland.

And, that has to be one of the most comprehensive modifications of the rhuk_milkyway templates I have ever seen!
