Hi everyone,so i am currently in an internship in a firm. My first task is to add a Russian translation to the website, which is backed up by Joomla v 1.5.7. I downloaded the needed language pack. The problem comes when i try to install it via extension manager. I get a message " Failed to move files. Unable to detect install package". I have tried enabling the FTP layer but that did not work. Could you please kindly advise me what to do in order to complete this task. Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Rav3

Maybe there was something that is missing and you missed downloading it?

I downloaded it from different sources multiple times, this error seems to be coming from joomla's side.

Perhaps more accurate to say 'Ownership problem'

Joomla needs Ownership of the files so that it can use the Owner permissions that are set.

Folder 755 files 644
Where the 7 and the 6 (respectively) refer to the permissions granted to the Owner.

Please run the Forum Post Assistant found by forum rules viewforum.php?f=428

Also check your /tmp path.

And
Look at Joomla admin >>>> Help >>> System info ... Directory permissions Tab .... see if the directories are writeable with folders 755 and files 644

So i found this information. Now the dumb question. How do i change the permissions and how do i change the folders from beeing unwritable to writable.
