Administrator User name and password

Hi all, i have an old site made with Joomla but i don't know the version!
I like to login but i forgot the user and the password.
I have access to data base and i like to change from here te user and the login.
Please let me know how to do this thing!

I see that Method 1 is with Configuration.php file, this seams to be the easy way, but somebody try to tell me for sure that works!?

did you use method2(Direct Editing of Database)

I have used both method 1 and 2
1 is very easy method.

I will try first the Method 1 looks very easy for me.
I believe it's working on every version!?

Hi there, i try first method but i don't know where to put the line " public $root_user='myname'; "
And after that what it will be my user and pasword!?

Method 1 only works if you have a working user name and password. This method allows the user name(of any level) to have temporary Super Admin access so you can change the passwords on other users. If you have no working user name/password you will need to use phpMyAdmin to update/add a Super Admin, method 2.
