Backing up Joomla

Hello,

I have a question about backing up a Joomla 1.5 website.

Do I have to set the website offline through the backend when doing the backup process ??

I plan to back up the database file and then download the website through ftp.

Hi,
you dont need to turn off your site. Just copy your files.

Your host might also have a backup function on their cPanel. I am with bluehost and they offer backup facility free of charge and also some free hosts offer backup facility.
