I have installed language packages, for both Joomla and VirtueMart, but the default language stays english.
I have selected my own languages at
Extension/Language manager
as default
and installed the right languages pack of VirtueMart,
at /components/com_virtuemart/languages
unzipped of course.
Why it is still everything in english?

From the administrator panel, “Site”, “User Manager”, click the username
and to the right are the front-end and back-end language settings.

Hope this helps!

I know those.
My problem is something else.
I did everything right, but the site stays english.
The admin is in hungarian now (which I not really need), but the site is in english.

Have you setup the front-end languages for that user?

I have installed the languages pack into
/components/com_virtuemart/languages
there are no languages settings for Virtuemart.
It follows the languages settings of Joomla, I guess.
Joomla is configured for hungarian
at
administrator panel, “Site”, “User Manager”,
Take a look:

Hi,
I have had a similar problem. The thing is that you need to check the language files : the "Administrator/components/com_virtuemart/languages/"

Not everything has been translated.

Also if still problem one or two things, back-up then delete old language files.

If still not working try to install joomfish to translate content.

I have hungarian translation.
many people use hungarian translation.
at
"Extensions" => "Languages",
i have also selected hungarian as default, but still only the admin section comes with hungarian language.

at
components/com_virtuemart/languages/
looks everything fine (Hungarian language included)

Hi,

Try with setting Hungarian as the default in the language manager but in the user panel, don't set language to anything.
You need to check inside the language files, they may not have been completely translated, use dreamweaver or similar.

I did, did not work.
Tried every possibility.
I also have reinstalled the language pack (a different one, hungarian having 2 different languages packs).
The result is the same.
The site works VERY-VERY nice.
The Online Shop is perfect!
Only this language thingie not working.

I see the login module displays in English, but at the Hungarian language pack extension:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/languages/translations-for-joomla/6710

Demo site shows it in Hungarian?
http://demo.joomla.org.hu/joomla15/

Perhaps Joomfish would correct this?
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ontent/460

Joom!Fish claims to detect language of each user automatically:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ntent/7761

Hope this helps!

Demo site shows in Hungarian.
http://demo.joomla.org.hu/joomla15/
Very nice.

I have installed Joomfish.
Now there is a note on my site:
There are no translations available.

How it is possieble?
It is installed (2 times manually, 3 times automatically, different files to be sure)

Is this installed to a web host, or a localhost (your computer)?

The site is placed at a firstclass webhost (US)
Look, the admin panel (virtuemart too) recognises hungarian language.
All the settings are pointed to hungarian but it still not showing up at the front end, as hungarian.
The translation is perfect, works on other's joomla sites as well.
It makes me crazy, man.
Bjorg, could you take a look at it (I'll send you access).

Access should not be necessary.

As a similar problem with the (but with the Italian language) and an earlier build of Joomla! can be found here:

http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=485&t=355205

The person solved this and determined it was the template.

Quote:
I solved my problem...

I was using a quick start template that consist in a modified Joomla! installation that apply the modules
and the template that I bought as default. Unluckily, this quick start is based on an English version of Joomla
and for an unknown reason some parts like demo data and the search module or the number of the guests surfing
the site still remain in English language even if you install another language.
This data i presume is collected in the MySQL database, so must be replaced, but for me was the hardest way.
So I catch this situation to learn something on Joomla.

Try a default template that was originally installed with your Joomla! install to this site.

Hope this helps!

No, it not resolved my problem.
I have changed the template different times to different versions.
I also installed Dutch language pack, configured to dutch (both: at user and language manager) still no change.

What's the meaning of this?:
This data i presume is collected in the MySQL database, so must be replaced, but for me was the hardest way.

Something written to the database (data) needs replaced, but can be a difficult task to replace the data within the database.
