Hi,

Which version are you using? RC1, a nightly? And can you check http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/2013/93/ and tell me which screen (figure number) it is that you get the errors? Thanks.

I'm having this same problem with the same error messages when I tried to install on local host -  :(

I don't understand what you did to solve the problem...  I didn't understand the reply that was first given to this problem or what solution was finally arrived at except that apparently you had downloaded the wrong version or something.  Very sketchy communication...

Can someone please help??

webjeff,

The user downloaded a recent version from http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/17/60/#nightly which must have solved his problem.

I had just downloaded the most current version yesterday and followed all of the instructions that were given.  I downloaded the wamp server and installed it and had no problems.  I then downloaded Joomla 1.5 to my machine.  I opened the zip in the www file under wamp/localserver as they instructed.  Everything seemed to go fine.  The only difference that i noticed was that since I didn't create a Joomla file under wamp/localserver/www, so under my projects it wasn't neatly grouped under Joomla on the wamp projects page.  I had all of the files unzipped there.  I opened the installation file and poceeded.  Everything was good until I got to the end which was when I was suppose to click and see Joomla and instead got the error messages.

Does anyone know what the errors mean? What can I do to go back and fix it?  I'm suck and need to get unstuck - whateverer anyone can do to help me I'd appreciate it greatly...

The "Notice: Undefined index: DBtype" installation problem has NOT been solved. I'm getting the error on Step 7 of the install. Empty database tables are created, but the config file is not written.

I've started with both an empty config file and no config file. Running Joomla Stable 1.5.9 on an Apache server with php 5 and mysql 5.

I'm about this close to giving up on Joomla. Any help would be highly appreciated.

I fixed it but I'm not sure which of the below steps fixed it-

1. I reuploaded the /installation/ folder
2. I did not turn on the FTP layer during install
3. I had previously renamed the configuration-dist.php file to configuration.php and set it to '666'. This time I left it as is and let the install script generate the config script for me to manually add.

Everything worked when I did those things.

Today I Install Joomla 1.5.15 to my hosting, I found same problem but I can fix it with this solution.

1) Drop all table that automatic created in my database after installation imcomplete.

2) Delete configulation.php form my server and upload new configualtion.php with blank page no have any text in configuration file (most people fail this step because rename file configuration.php-dist to configuration.php only but it is not blank page !!!!!)

3) Change MOD at file configuration.php to 777 (you can change it basically by FTP or web control panel)

4) Delete all folder Installation from my hosting and re-upload folder installation again.

5) Try to run installation again. It will be good work for you.

Soory for poor english wording, because I came from Thailand.
