The link to the Installation Manual was no help as it doesn't mention anything about Multible WEB site on a single server.
And posting on the Apache forum as had no results yet. Is my question that difficult that this fourm can only push off it off to links? If someone know the answer to this question please post back...Thank you, Alex

Yes, you can install multiple websites on XAMPP. All you do is make each sitename different. I make a new database for each one.

In XAMPP/htdocs make a new folder and name it and install Joomla into that folder.

Thanks Bobby,
Thanks for the heads up...
When you say that you create a new DB for each site...do you mean that each install of XAMPP into different folders crestes a new DB for each install?
Thank you,
Alex

Create the databases first in phpMyAdmin in XAMPP

Bobby,
I'm a newbie in this area...I've just installed Joomla a few days ago and our goal is to create 3 web sites on the same server...one for each of us to be used as a family picture gallery site; as a starting point. So when you tell to install the DB first that's enough to lose me...
You seem like a man of few words so if this is something that you don’t want to explain…not to worry as I have plenty to comprehend before I can ask the many questions that I’m sure to have.
Alex

my advise would be to use something like hostmonster with a cpanel and use fantastico to automate the installation youll have a site up in 5 minutes. thrn once its up youll have plenty of time to figure out the finer points.

hi, it is probably too late for Alex, but if someone still needs a solution for this:
it is very simple to create multiple sites for joomla.
create a new folder in htdocs (if you have used xampp then you have done that for the first installation) unzip joomla there, and start the installation as you have for the first one, through localhost (http://localhost/myNewSiteFolderName/. along the way you will have to define a new database for this site. takes about 5 minutes to do it.

Just like to say thanks for this as I found it useful too.

I'm also looking at sharing the same docs too and I will be looking in the JED directory at some point for that.....

EDIT - For any one else - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... iple-sites
