I cannot get past the database configuration page while installing Joomla15. I belive there is a trick to the host name, as some help pages say use "localhost" while other say "mysql". I don't know what it is. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you are installing Joomla! in your PC/laptop, the host name is localhost, user name is root and passoword is nothing (do not enter anthing as the user name root does not have any password). Enter the database name of your choice.

hummm, it has worked now, after using "mysql" as the hostname.......

My answer was based on the assumption that you are doing things on your PC. Some of the remote hosts use localhost as the host name. Some of the remote hosts such as Yahoo, uses mysql as the host name. Some remost hosts such as 1&1 provide their servername as host name. So, it really depends on the host service provider.
