I'm building a church website, and I ran into some template coding issues and needed to create a test site to try out some fixes. I'm using a localhost (the site's not live yet), Wamp 2.0
I copied the "church" folder in my wamp/www . . ., and renamed it "test".
Now, when I open local host, I see "church" and "test".
But, when I make changes in the backend, or in the code, in "test", it affects both the "test" site and the "church" site, which isn't what I wanted to happen.
What did I do wrong? I'm thinking it's something to do with the SQL database, but . . . what?
How can I create a backup of my work, rename it, and then use it to try out coding experiments?
Thanks . . .
Vic

Both church and test are using the same database. You need to create a new database, then do an export of the original one and import it into the new one. Now edit the configuration.php file in your test folder and change the database name to the name of the new database. Now any changes you make to your test site will only effect your test site.
