Joomla on top of Joomla - what's the problem?

Post by cybervigilante » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:44 pm

A few times I've installed Joomla in a domain, then installed another Joomla in a subdomain that was in a subfolder, and ended up with all sorts of problems. The hosting service even told me it was causing problems. Is this really the case or was it just coincidence and the help desk was looking for an easy out? Or, if it is a problem, why is it a problem?

I never had a problem as long as you remember to use a different prefix for your database.

I did have a problem with a previous install. I did not know about the database prefix restrictions. Thank you for that advice.

Thanks. I can see that if you were using the same database, but I've had problems when using two different databases. I don't see why that would occur. Or maybe the hosts are kidding me that they are serving up different databases :p
