Joomla 1.5 & WAMP Apache Version / PHP 5.2 x version / MySQL

Hi all.

Looking for a J-Master to help out if they'd be so kind please.

I would like to locally develop a site in Joomla 1.5, as Simplecaddy supports it, as well as some Rocket Theme Templates (J 1.5) that I have.

I am on W7 64.

Joomla 1.5 can only run on PHP 5.2 I believe.

I have tried WAMP and XAMPP without success. I spent a fair while eventually working out it relates to new versions of these packages providing PHP 5.3+, which J 1.5 cannot support.

XAMPP 1.7.1 is PHP 5.2 based and yet still I see HTTP 500 errors when I try to connect to the Front End of a Rocketlauncher for 1.5. The back end is OK.

So, I'd like the following answered definitively please :

Which localhost development software do I need to be able to successfully develop a site in Joomla 1.5, which runs in Windows 7 64 Bit (I'm not sure if the 64 bit makes a difference in any case) without errors or bugs?

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom. My knowledge is just slightly above beginner.

Regards,
Mysterios

First of all, unistall all the local host what you have in your PC, and also if any folder exists..
Then Get a latest wamp server from here ( you have to choose the compatible version for your PC )
http://www.wampserver.com/en/

When you install wamp, all the required php, mysql etc will be installed on a streach.
Then download J!1.5.23 here
http://www.joomla.org/download.html ( Full package)
It will work...
Please dont tear.. hairs..
If any problem feel free to ping back
Keep going

Thank you for the information.

I did as you suggest.

When I install, and then change the PHP version to 5.2.x the WAMP Server will not go online green, it stays at Orange.

I've restarted the app, the services, etc and it doesn't help.

If I change BACK to PHP 5.3.x it come online.

Any further tips ?

Thanks again for the reply.

Ping........!

It would be useful to know which versions of apache/php 5.2/mysql play nicely together.

I've tried different versions of mysql/apache, with php 5.2.0, and either the Local Host Server will not come online (stays red) or I see the following when trying to access phpmyadmin :

phpMyAdmin - Error

The mysqli extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. <a href="Documentation.html#faqmysql" target="documentation"><img class="icon" src="./themes/original/img/b_help.png" width="11" height="11" alt="Documentation" title="Documentation" /></a>

I've checked the php.ini file - OK, I've checked the php extensions mysql & mysqli are enabled (they are)

I've rebooted/started services again.

No joy.........

My hair is going greyer.

If you install wamp server, it comes along with the updated package, and php, mySql etc are installed automatically

Indeed.

The default PHP version is 5.3 though (or above), and 5.2 doesn't work (for me)

Any tips on the correct config and versions to run on

Apache
Mysql
PHP (must be a 5.2 variant)

to get a Joomla 1.5 working installation!?

WAMP appears fantastic in principle but unstable in reality? I may be wrong.......

Cheers, but there lays the problem.

Joomla 1.5 cannot run on PHP 5.9.2.2, or anything above the 5.2 variants I believe.

Can anyone else confirm?

Ah - no I didn't. Thanks for that.

I've matched my config to yours, and can see myphpadmin now.

However, I also see :

The phpMyAdmin configuration storage is not completely configured, some extended features have been deactivated. To find out why click here.

Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole by setting a password for user 'root'.

Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.36. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

So sorry for taking your time up!

Where you installed? Online server? is it your server? If so you can access php my admin. some times some mess may happen that you cant access.. Just change pass word of cpanel. It will be resolved. contact your server admin if you cant access php my admin. I dont understand what you mean by "when it turned green and i click the local host and php my admin" . actually you installing in your local host or server? did you created data bases first?
