Hi

I built a site locally on MAMP and all was displaying fine. Then I uploaded Live and changed my configuration.php and database etc, but now styles are missing. So it can't find my template or the backend admin template, it just displays in very basic browser format.
If I click on View Source, the paths are there and look correct, but when I examine with Firebug no styles are found. Any ideas?

The extensions and everything you installed will be unaffected by the move, except:

  • the configuration.php must be edited to reflect the change of location of the web files and database
  • any separate configuration files for extensions such as ecommerce/some templates etc, that refer to the URL or path directly need to be edited.
  • you may have to review/reconfigure/disable .htaccess/SEO settings on the new host

OR

you may like to try using Akeeba (fka - JoomlaPack) to move your site, it has received a lot of positive reviews. Follow the detailed information on their web site as to how to use it.

Suggest you test the new host with a fresh install of Joomla! first to get the right settings for configuration.php
