I have v1,5 joomla installed on the server, can log in ok, but the home page displays text only, not the full control panel with icons etc.
I can navigate to other links in the CP, but when I then try to get back to the home page using the Site/Control panel menu link, I get the text page which starts with....

Problem resolved when joomla completely reinstalled.
Presume an 1st install had corruption somewhere.
Case closed!
