Directory Permissions are unwritable

How can I make these writable

If you are using cpanel then go to public_html there you will see directories or folders. Along with every diercotory on right hand side corner you will see numbers like 0755, 0777, 0644, 0444 these are permissions

Anyone having this issues still, I had them with Joomla 3.2.3 and this is hos I resolved them
First make sure the path to the directory start with a slash >> / ...otherwise it will not be read properly
Then, open the file manager on you Server Provider, and change permissions to 7-5-5! That will be all
