hi scubaguy,

no i didn't move my installation location. i've cleared the cache in the wp-content folder but the permission problems persist.

you mention updating the WP-location in the wp-options table. to what value am i supposed to update it to?

currently the siteurl field in the wp-options table has this value: http://(mydomain)/components/com_jd-wp

is this wrong? what should be the right value if it is?

cheers,
SASHI

scubaguy wrote:
sashi1977, did you move your installation location?  You will have to update the WP location in your wp-options table in the database.  There is also a cache folder under the wp-content folder in the components directory that needs to be cleared out as well.  I had asimilar problem with my permissions and that was the solution.

Sashi,  sorry, but if you didn't move it and the url in options look correct then my solution won't work. :(

Maybe this is the thread I need to post in. I try to install JD-Wordpress in Joomla 1.0.8 and I never get the "Installed Successfully" or "Install Failed.. Continue" screen. I just get a blank screen with index2.php in the url, then JD-WP shows up in the installed components and the link is in the menu, and the menu link does show the 1 sample blog. But the admin of JD-WP doesn't work right. And trying to uninstall the component doesn't work.

Also, I tried to install the TinyMCE plugin from JD as well and it fails saying that it can't find the XML file.

Are these issues because I am using Joomla 1.0.8?

I've kinda had that problem at times too, not just with JD-WP, but some other components too, and the reason turned out to be that my PHP installation was configured to not accept short open tags (

I will test this out. If this is the case, I will simply do a global search and replace to make sure NO short tags are used. All new default PHP installs are with short tags off.  So now I code the proper way and use full tags. Which really should be done with all modern code. Also, best not to assume all hosting companies will change the now default setting of short tags off.

Hopefully that is the issue and then I can easily fix these few components that won't install. Thanks for the tip. I will update with my findings.

Well... not an issue with short tags off. I did a global search for
Also, I checked JD-WP2.0-RC1 package and it did have a few short tags. I converted them to
So doesn't look like short tags is the issue for TinyMCE 2.0 and JD-WP 2.0 RC1 on Joomla 1.0.8 with php 5.1.1

Any other ideas? So far these 2 downloads from JD are the only ones I have run into with problems for me in 1.0.8

Just found that AkoCommentPlus1.1.1 package suffers from some short tags and that gives the exact same issue as the JD-WP 2.0 RC1 package of giving me a blank screen with url index2.php and then no uninstalling properly either.

But when I did a search and replace of

Looks like I somehow missed the open tags on my JD-WP search. But I got it this time and it was indeed the issue for the blank page as well.

Even though I am running Joomla on serveral of my own servers and have full control over php.ini , I have chosen to follow the new default OFF setting per php.net's reasoning. And really, full proper tags should be used anyways. Was silly for "short tags" to be invented in the first place. :)  Anyways, now I will know to make sure to go global search/replace for short tags in other components I download and will offer proper tag versions on my site. :)

Now I can actually checkout these components and see if I have anything else to say. :)

Just tested out JD-Wordpress running on a fresh installed Joomla 1.0.8 and it's work like a charm. However, i've notice a block of code is wrongly place which should have been in the header instead of the body document. This is the code in components/com_jd-wp/jd-wp.html.php (line 18 -20 and 105-107):

It should be removed and place in the document head, however, the rss would bring up an error on other pages so the workaround is to assign a template (with that code in the header) to the page where you are going to show wordpress. Now your page can be validated.

Hi Folks,
I have what should be an easy question to answer. Here goes: I have a current installation of WordPress which is operational and working as my homepage. I would like to start using joomla along with WordPress. My question is this:

What's the best way to do this?
If I install Joomla on top of my current WP install will it keep my current settings and layout?
Is the wordpress in JD-WordPress seperate from the regular wordpress or does it feed off of it.
Should I install JD-WordPress and then just apply my changes through it?
Or will I have to start all over by installing Joomla, then JD-WordPress and loosing my content?

Thanks for any help

JD-Wordpress is a compoent which bundles Wordpress togther, you don't need to install the actual Wordpress itself (Predator has done a fine job of it :) ). So basically, get Joomla up and running then just install JD-wordpress as a component and it should work out of the box for you. Once it is installed you can use Wordpress just like it is, ie, plugins- drop them into the plugin folder and activate it in the backend. Theme, again do the same as plugins.

JD-Wordpress is not separate from Joomla it would be installed into the components folder and some in your admin folder as well as the DB. As for contents, you will need to import this over. I am not sure if there exist such a tool to import but try searching in this forum.

thanks,

Well it is the weekend, i think most users have better things to do than i have  :)
You can try and use phpmyadmin do a dump in CSV and then import this into your joomla tables for JD-Wordpress. If i do come across any import tool, i'll let you know.

I would love to be able to use phpMyAdmin. However, I am in Baghdad, Iraq right now and Uncle Sam has all the ports blocked. I can't ftp either. It's a bit difficult to get stuff done. Can't wait to get home. 5 more weeks. Yipeeee!

Thanks for raising that issue, i hadn't noticed it when i installed JD-Wordpress a few days ago. So i paid a visit to http://www.joomladeveloping.org site and great news. There was a request for it last month and zerolight has released a search mambot: http://www.zerolight.co.uk/web/index.ph ... lecatid=34

I'm just testing it out now.

REfering to the searchbot for JD-Wordpress. If you are running Joomla 1.0.8 with JD-Wordpress v2.0_1.0RC2. You will probably notice that all you get is a blank screen when you try to do a search.

Well! there is a fix and here: http://www.joomladeveloping.org/compone ... topic,43.0

It's just a case of changing one line of code found in /modules/mod_jd-wp_sidebar.php

That should resolve the issue, now you can search in both your Joomla contents and JD-Worpress.

Thanks,

Sunburst

Hey Folks,
I installed the Postie plugin. It's an improved version of the WP email by blog feature and all is well until I attempt to submit my configuration preferences. I then receive an error stating that: Direct access to this site/area is not permitted. Is there a work around for this that's not going to break anything else? Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you running this on Joomla with JD-Wordpress? Also, can you give us a link to the plugin so we can check it out.

Thanks,

Sunburst

No problem, thanks for the info. Just tested it out and i'm also getting the same error msg :(

Looks like when postie calls the wp-config.php, this line of code prevents it is:

defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed.' );
global $mosConfig_absolute_path, $mosConfig_dbprefix, $mosConfig_db, $mosConfig_user, $mosConfig_password, $mosConfig_host;

I don't really know how to fix this. Maybe, someone else can try. It's a shame seems like a very good plugin to be able to blog by email (inlcudes sending video clips too).

JD-wp (joomla_com_jd-wp_v2.0_1.0RC2_predator.zip) is fantastic!!! I is from a lot that I used wp and now integrated in joomla.. it is determined more relating, according to me..

I wanted it ask some things:
1) the jd-wp installs wp 2.0... to have wp 2.0.1 thing I should do?
2) having another calendar installed in joomla 1.0.8 (extcalendar) I believe that does not serve and cannot install the form joomla_mod_jd-wp_calendar_v1.1_predator.zip. just é?

You excuse my English but is fruit of a metaphorical..  (I do not speak English: P)

Still compliments
