I am running 1.5 on a WHM/cPanel server A.

I did a cpmove backup and restore to a WHM/cPanel server B.

I tweaked my configuration.php file, check the MySQL DB and usernames --everything looks ok.

When I render the page on server B I get a blank screen.

When I hit mydoman.com/administrator (server B), Google Chrome wants me to download something.

Is it possible to move a complete and in tact copy of Joomla 1.5 and all its components and modules on to another server?

If so, is there a step-by-step guide to follow?

Thanks

Akeeba Backup extension can do this, it creates a .jpa backup file that contains all your site files as well as your site's database. You can then use the .jpa file to clone your site to another server.
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/site-security/backup/1606

Instructions;
https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/backup-now.html
https://www.akeebabackup.com/videos/1024-ab04.html
You must first create a database on the new server for the install of the .jpa file to use.

Actually @dpacadmin:

If I can't get to my new server through Joomla, then how will I restore the backup?

Does not make a lot of sense!
Follow the instructions given by dpacadmin and read the documentation.
If you do what it says in the Akeeba documentation it too works fine and moves the site.

Bottom-line: Joomla broken on target server -- it is not running at all. Therefore, how do you initiate the restore on a broken server that does not allow you to even get into it to install the backup plug-in? The backup plug-in is not part of the cpmove (cPanel zip.tar file being moved from source server).

Hope that makes more sense.

If you can not access your Joomla backend then you need to manually move your site. There are instructions here;
http://docs.joomla.org/Copying_a_Joomla_website
You will need to download your site files through FTP and your database through phpMyAdmin or whatever SQL database UI you have.

You install Akeeba on the source server not the target server. It then packages the site and database ready for the transfer to the new location.
You are starting again not trying to fix the broken target as that is what I thought you wanted to achieve?
You want a copy of site A (the source) to now be on Site B (the target) do you not?
Delete site B and and its database and start again. Again this would have been apparent had you followed even the quick user guide for the Akeeba Backup extension.

If you are keeping the original database and solely moving a copy of the site files then do this by FTP only.
Then edit the configuration.php file manually to reflect the move.
