"componentnotinstalled" after 1.5.22 to 1.5.26 ftp

Post by madraccoon » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:33 am

FTP'd files for the 1.5.0 to 1.5.26 package to my 1.5.22 site following instructions at http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.5_fr ... 5x_version - which just tells you to ftp the patch files but apparently needs me to do nothing else.

The article editor now shows a red 'componentnotinstalled' (sic) banner and the link editor is not working in JCE.

ANy ideas?

Have you checked to see if there is an update for your editor? I believe the latest version of JCE only works with php 3, you need an older version if your site does not have php 3. You may just need to re-install JCE.

Both editors available were (and are, now I've rolled back to 1.5.22) operational under PHP5.

One more sanity check before I try again; The update files include an INSTALL file. The upgrade instructions referenced above don't mention it. Is the 1.5.0 to 1.5.26 upgrade really ONLY file uploads as the wiki says, or does that install script need to be run? (and removed).

The upgrade is only a matter of FTP'ing the files to the root of your site, overwriting the old files on the site. If you use FileZilla check the Failed Transfers box in the bottom left corner and re-queue any files there till they upload. The INSTALL file is just text instructions on how to install Joomla, it is not used to install Joomla.

Thanks for the confirmation.
Looks like the fault was a partial upload; a complete upload direct from the original patch files completed the upgrade and fixed the "missing component" message.

Thanks for your time.
