Moving directories (possibly a stupid question)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I have a feeling it may be!

I am nearing the end of re-designing my website, moving from horrendously old HTML table format to a new joomla setup. I'm nearly happy with the site, and although work is still to be done on a fair few bits, the end is in sight!

I have a problem though. Because I am new to Joomla, when I installed it I popped it on my website in a new file as requested. Therefore my old/current site sits on www.thecowsheds.co.uk and the new one is currently at www.thecowsheds.co.uk/jmla.

My question is this. I am looking to launch soon, probably next Tuesday. If I clear the files on thecowsheds.co.uk root, can I simply take everythnig out of my jmla folder and put it in the root so joomla will sit on thecowsheds.co.uk, or will that cause all the links and images to be wrong (as they are pointing at /jmla)?

Hope I've explained clearly.

I don't have the time to re-do the site again, so if all else fails it will have to sit at www.thecowsheds.co.uk for ever more!

You can move the contents of the subdirectory to the root, but afterwards you need to change configuration.php using your favorite editor.
