I had a hosting service move my joomla site from a shared server to a private server. Now I can't upload files or delete anything from inside the administrator of my site. Any help on why?

Thank you for your time

MIKE

If you are using the FTP layer and you have a new FTP connection for the new server then you need to edit your FTP info in the Global Configuration settings. You should also check the absolute path for your tmp and logs folders in your configuration.php file. That may have changed with the move. If you don't know the absolute path ask your Host.

Thank you so much!!! It's fixed! We went through and I had similar issues with virtuemart store and other extensions. It seems like most of everything is fixed. Now my only problem is installing and uninstalling extensions. I keep getting an error message for both. Any help on this matter?

Thank you again,

MIKE

If you are having extension install problems try enabling or disabling the FTP layer. The FTP layer is enabled when you add correct FTP connection info in the Global Configuration settings. The tmp path has to be correct to install extensions.

Should my "ftp host" under "ftp settings" in global communication be set to my current IP address? My current IP address is different than the IP address showing in my global communication "ftp host" area.

Maybe if the site is on your computer, otherwise ask your Host for the correct FTP Host address for your site.
