Hello everyone,

The Joomla Updater (1.4.0 free) is still showing the 1.5.15 Test Package instead of the latest patch. It is also showing the 1.6 alpha2 in the full package.

The patch path worked fine until the 1.5.15 stable release. It would be nice if we could get back the path for both, or at least one of them. This is not a trivial matter if all your clients asked for this functionality and now suddenly it is no longer working.

The issue with the developer and the free/paid versions aside, can we get the Joomla Code site to cooperate so that the latest free version 1.4.0 that so many of us are dependent on works properly again.

Regs,
Mark

Do people need that functionality, sure they do. However, if an extension or code is listing test versions and alpha's for upgrading paths, it's plain rubbish. We've seen too many people on the forum who upgraded to 1.6 by mistake.

I can't agree with Tonie. The extension worked great for automatic updates before the release of 1.6 alpha and 1.5.15. It still works great with manually replaced update paths.

To people responsible for the Joomal Code site.

If you could provide a clearer separation between 1.5 and 1.6 releases or between Test and Stable versions that would probably be what is needed for the Joomla 1.5 Updater to work properly again. I would like to stress the word "again" here as it did work so well for so long.

Please don't make us throw out something that worked so well for so long and to which many people donated for its development. I can't imagine that there is anyone with a lot of enthusiasm for going back to all their clients and getting them a new extension.

I had problems with the alternative Update Manger so I don't find it to be the magic bullet that will be easy to swallow if I had to go back to all my clients.

I very much hope that this can be treated with urgency, since as mentioned, there have already been cases when someone updated their site to 1.6 alpha and lost a website.
