I have just upgraded quite a few sites with the 1.5.14 to 1.5.15 patch.
All but one went well. I get a 500 server error, and on investigating the cause I found that the code at:
function fopen() file name can not be empty /libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 240 is getting an empty file name.
Reloading the patch several times has not fixed the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Phil

That's the problem. There is no contents.

Looking at other patch problems on this forum indicate reloading the patch etc. which has not fixed this problem.
It's interesting that I have downloaded the entire site to my local server, along with a copy of the database, and everything works fine.

At this point I have submitted a trouble ticket to the hosting company.
As a last resort I will delete the entire Joomla application from the site and reload it. I was hoping for an easier fix, but I don't think there's any other.

Thanks for your interest.

Phil

First, attempt to rename the htaccess.txt, to .htaccess
within the Joomla! installation directory.

Hope this helps!

I solved my problem when the server support group reset the permissions of the administrator directory to 755.
I submitted another request for permissions info on viewtopic.php?f=430&t=458286 because my problem could have happened to anyone upgrading from one version to another.

My advice at this point is to make sure your directories are set to 755 prior to ftp upload.

thank you for your answer, that with permissions solved my problem to. my advice is to prove your backup is it complete full, or to try several time to reloading the patch...
now i can prove my upgrade and preparing it for online version :)
