Upgrading Joomla to 1.5.26

Post by raul3k » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:20 pm

Hello all, i'm getting some problems when i try to update joomla 1.5.12 to 1.5.26.
Yes, i can update, but when i do i cannot login with firefox or internet explorer, i am only able to login with google chrome, i don't know why.

I searched in this forum and the internet. It's NOT (i can login with chrome as i said) a password issue, when i try to login it's only "reload" the page.

But as i need to migrate joomla 1.5 to 2.5, the JUpgrade does not work with the google chrome.

If anyone can help me would be great...

have a nice day =)

There are a number of bugs with the JUpgrade. You might look at SPUpgrade instead.

Have you already tried clearing your browser cache and cookies in FF and IE?

Thank you for the tip.

yes, i tried, but i got the same problem.
I came here because i dont know what to do and i have to do this...

I tried the update manager, admin tools, extract the full 1.5.26, worked well com google chrome, but i am not only who will use the system...

thats really wierd..=/

is there a tutorial of how to do this upgrade manually ? eg: which files i will need to copy ? (not just uploading the full package and extracting it to the website)

Thanks

You might using AdminTools from AkeebaBackup. You can use it to reinstall the Joomla files for 1.5.26. Assuming you haven't hacked any core files, that is the easiest route to go.

I'm not sure of any way to easily see if any core files have been modified.

Another thought is to check and see if there are any add-on plugins running. You could try to unpublish them and see if that makes a difference. I know some people have experienced some issues with a jom_social plugin.

First back up the original site, Akeeba Backup is good for this.

There is an extension to check for core file changes, here is a link;
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... desk/12026
It is not always accurate and currently only works on Joomla 1.5 versions up to .25 but it is a start and may point to some modified core files.

You said you have cleaned out your browser's temp Internet files, have you deleted any cookies from the site as well?
If you can log into the admin backend try flushing the Joomla cache, do a check in and purge as well. Make sure you don't have any security extensions installed that may be blocking your login.

thanks dpacadmin.
There's no security plugin, i cleaned the cookies, temp file of firefox and ie.

Look, I installed a fresh 1.5.26 in a new webserver (i forgot to say that i'm using IIS7 as webserver), same problem.
I installed a fresh 1.5.25 in a new webserver, same problem.

Maybe is a browser configuration that is wrong ? because i can only login with google chrome.

and about look for modified files, maybe i can write a script to see if any core file has changed comparing the size of them (starting with a full fresh package)

That is what the Version Verification Tool I linked to does. The problem I had with it(and it has been some time so it may have changed since then) was that if I didn't FTP all the core file to the site in Binary mode the tool would find many ascii files that it said were modified. This was because if you upload an ascii file in binary mode the resulting file on the server has a different file size then the same file uploaded in ascii mode.

Just look for modified php files in the list it creates as these are the most likely to be modified by someone hacking the core files.

The fact that you are running the site on an IIS server may be an issue causing your problem, check the IIS Server Forum on this site to see if it has been an issue before.

You could also try running theForum Post Assistant on your server to see if it finds any issues.

Very thanks. I am talking with my supervisor to change the webserver, tomorrow i will install the nginx or apache, thanks for the help.
I don't know if the core has been changed for the guy who was here (it's an intranet app). I'll find a way to see that (my version is 1.5.12, the com only can be installed with 1.5.15 =/)

Thanks

The tool works with all versions of Joomla 1.5;
"The Version Verification Tool ships with a list of all files that have shipped with Joomla 1.5 since the first release"

I would recommend Apache for your server.

Another thing I want to ask.
You (crandaddy) told me about the SPUpgrade app. Is there another free option instead of JUpgrade ?
