Does exist some patch to update 1.5.22 to 15.25?
In site i didn't see update.
What you suggest how to update to 1.5.25?

Use 1.5.0 to 1.5.25 patch to update from 1.5.22 to 1.5.25.
Backup your website before you install the patch.

Yes,
Admin Tools is a very useful extension and
Akeeba Backup as well. They are from the same developer.

this does not make sense - this would be the first time ever that we've had to downgrade to upgrade.
(eg install 1.5.0 to upgrade to 1.5.25)
Is there an official communication or link on how to upgrade from 1.5.22 to the latest version.?
also if we choose to use Akeeba Backup - what 'resource' does it use?

It is not downgrading to Joomla 1.5.0 but you can (have to) use the 1.5.0 to 1.5.25 patch to upgrade from 1.5.22 to Joomla 1.5.25. There is no other patch to update from Joomla 1.5.22 to Joomla 1.5.25.
An easier solution to keep your installation up to date is Admin Tools.
Akeeba Backup you can use to backup your installation or to move from one server to another.

Or install each patch package using ftp
1.5.22->1.5.23 then
1.5.23->1.5.24 then....
pretty simple to do

You can not download these patches any longer. 1.5.22 -> 1.5.23 or 1.5.23 -> 1.5.24
So it's not so simple.

The patch packages are still available, you just have to search a bit harder (well, a little harder
)
Type '1.5.23' in the Search box on the Joomla! home page. This returns the 'Joomla! 1.5.23 Released' news article, which has the link to the packages on Joomlacode.org
The same applies for other releases.
An advantage of this method is that you can check each package what files are updated in case you have any core hacks.
