I currently have a site using version 1.5.22 and need to upgrade to 1.5.26, but my only choices are "1.5.20 to 1.5.26" or "1.5.24 to 1.5.26". I assume I should use former, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't painting myself into a corner.

The update packages are available at http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=6311.

As you may notice, the official update packages available are:

Joomla_1.5.25_to_1.5.26-Stable-Patch_Package.zip
Joomla_1.5.0_to_1.5.26-Stable-Patch_Package.zip

Suggest using the package Joomla_1.5.0_to_1.5.26-Stable-Patch_Package.zip. This will help applying the package only once. Otherwise, you have to keep on applying the incremental update packages right from 1.5.22 (i.e., 1.5.22 to 1.5.23, 1.5.23 to 1.24, and so forth.)

Also, the document http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.5_from_an_existing_1.5x_version would be of help.

Make sure to take a copy of the site files and the database content before doing the upgrade.
